Amazon Partnerships Foundation seeks 1-2 passionate, experienced professionals to serve on its volunteer Board of Directors. A non-profit, non-governmental organization, Amazon Partnerships Foundation is incorporated in Bothell, Washington, and works exclusively in the Napo Province of Ecuador. We work to help reverse the climate crisis and address one of the key factors contributing to destruction of the rainforest in the area: the degradation of indigenous Kichwa culture. Amazon Partnerships Foundation is particularly interested in candidates with accounting and/or fundraising experience.

Amazon Partnerships Foundation Board Members have the following responsibilities and expectations:


  • Serve as an ambassador for Amazon Partnerships Foundation and help increase public awareness of the organization
  • Willing to travel to Ecuador to meet program staff and review program implementation
  • Get to know other committee members and build a collegial working relationship that contributes to consensus
  • Regularly participate in board meetings (typically done by conference call every 6-8 times per year, and one in-person Annual Meeting, usually held in the Seattle area)
  • Prepare for board conference calls by reviewing minutes and reports
  • Make commitment to participate in sub-committee initiatives
  • Volunteer for and willingly accept assignments and complete them thoroughly and on time
  • Stay informed about committee matters and organizational updates from staff

Assessment & Planning

  • Provide input into organizational vision and strategic plan
  • Engage in short and long term planning
  • Develop and approve organizational policies
  • Participate in organizational evaluation and planning efforts
  • Develop organizational budgets and provide financial oversight
  • Support and evaluate Executive Director


Amazon Partnerships Foundation is specifically interested in board candidates with experience or expertise in one or both of the following areas:

Accounting/Financial Oversight

  • Provide oversight and input into the organizational budgeting process by setting goals and benchmarks
  • Regularly review organizational finances to ensure resources are managed effectively and efficiently
  • Assist in the production of quarterly budget reports
  • Provide ideas and oversight into long-term financial planning and budgeting


  • Help develop fundraising goals, objectives and strategies
  • Identify, cultivate and solicit major donors
  • Assist in identifying and developing diversified funding sources
  • Actively participate in fundraising activities and events
  • Make a personal financial contribution in support of Amazon Partnership Foundation


We seek candidates who are committed to sustainable development, poverty alleviation and rainforest conservation and have previous board experience either with non-profits or in the business world. Amazon Partnerships is particularly interested in candidates with fundraising and/or accounting experience. Candidates should also have experience in one or more of the following areas: nonprofit management, international development, conservation/environmental policy, program management, consulting or media relations. Some familiarity with global climate change, Ecuador, and/or Kichwa culture a plus.
