Francisco Licuy, Canambo
Francisco participated in an organic cacao cultivation training project, where farmers learned pruning, pest management, grafting, and compost production techniques.
"The project meetings are helpful, because if we just talk about what we need to do, we'll forget. If we put it in writing, we'll remember."
Nelly Tanguila, Palma Amazónica
"Amazon Partnerships Foundation has a follow up process so people really learn to take care of the environment, to value it. All the families understand this and see the effects of climate change. That's why these projects are really important."
Making an Impact
Amazon Partnerships Foundation has helped more than 1,400 Kichwa people take care of their families, confront climate change, and celebrate the value their culture places on conservation, a legacy they will pass on to the next generation.
Maria Aguida, Palma Amazónica
Maria participated in two projects with her community, installing a rainwater catchment system and building a composting toilet.
"The bathroom is really useful for us. It only took a day and a half to build and our entire family uses it. And the water tank is great. Before our kids would have stomach problems from drinking river water. Now they don't get sick."
